2021 Member's Invitational Exhibition Recap

Updated: May 5, 2022

Titled “Recent Works,” the third annual Members' Invitational Exhibition featured works by 27 AAW member artists in a variety of media. Many of the artists were on hand during the opening reception on December 5th at the Woodbury Public Library.

The exhibition was on view from Saturday, December 4 through Thursday, December 30, during regular library hours.

Works were judged by Fairfield Museum Curator Chelsea Garth.

“Particularly in the last two years, one of isolation and one of navigating a new normal, art has been a solace and savior for both artists and appreciators alike,” said Ms. Garth. “It is a profound experience to be able to return to experiencing artwork in person, and a pleasure to see, despite challenges and tragedy, that deep reflection and beautiful expression has come from it.

“Art is a source of hope, sharing of feelings, ideas and perspectives that remind us of who we are and to pay attention to our place in the world and among others.”

Ms. Garth holds a B.A. from UConn in art history and an M.S. from Fairfield University in American studies.
