Becky Butler is a Connecticut-based artist working in pastel, acrylic, and mixed media. After a successful career in arts education, Becky retired in 2022 to fully pursue her own creative practice.
In 2012, she founded Arts Escape, a nonprofit in Southbury dedicated to providing arts education for adults. Inspired by the transformative power of creative expression she witnessed in others, Becky turned inward to explore her own voice as an artist.
Her work is rooted in abstraction and draws from themes of identity, emotion, and connection. 2025, Floral Kaleidoscope was accepted into the Mattatuck Museum’s Mix Master exhibition. In 2024, her pastel Tethered Beauties was accepted into the Connecticut Pastel Society’s Renaissance show, followed by Italian Siblings in 2025. That same year, she was awarded Best in Show for her mixed media piece Somewhere Out There in the “Art at the Meeting House” exhibition in Roxbury.
Becky’s work has been exhibited at the Mattatuck Museum in Waterbury, Five Points Gallery’s Small Works show in Torrington, CT and the CT+6 show in West Hartford. She also exhibits at the Kent Art Association, West Hartford Art League, Ridgefield Guild of Artists, and the Washington Art Associations.
She lives in Woodbury, Connecticut, with her husband, Paul.
